Is your cat missing?

First of all - Don't Panic!

Cats do wander off and turn up after a few hours or even days and wonder what all the fuss is about. Search every room in the house – in cupboards, washing machines and tumble driers too, outhouses, sheds and garages. Cats can easily get shut in and be trapped – think of lofts, cellars etc and also if builders have been working in the house under floor boards or behind kitchen units.

Advertise as widely as possible:

Speak to all the neighbours and ask them to check their property and outbuildings.

Posters and flyers – have a good description and a picture if possible with contact details. Put flyers through every door in your immediate area and distribute posters to local shops, notice boards, schools etc

If your cat is microchipped call Petlog  08444 633999 – they will flag that your cat is missing and also check found cat reports in the area.

If your cat is insured contact the company as sometimes they will help pay for the cost

of advertising or a reward for a lost cat.

Contact all local vets in your area not just the one that you use.

Contact all local cat charities - they normally keep a lost & found register.

Local newspapers often have a lost and found section.

Local radio will put out appeals   Radio Suffolk – 01473 340740

Contact local council environmental health department – they will keep a record of any cats found on the road.

Contact regional & national lost & found pet registers such as www.lostyourpet.net and the missing pet bureau www.petsbureau.co.uk

Speak to the postman, milkman, local delivery people - the more people that know – the more likely you are to find him.

When he does turn up please do try and keep him in for a few days so he settles back into his home & routine again. …. And please don’t forget to inform people like us so that we can take him off our records and it’s great to hear that he has returned!

To minimise the risk of losing your cat:

Have your cat neutered

Keep your cat in at night

Identification - have your cat microchipped and give him a collar (quick release, safety) with an identity tag.
